i'm one of those people who get excited about stuff and just have to tell people about it. it's true. when something is really cool, or i just like it, i feel the need to tell people about it.

today, you will witness what i mean.

i had read on blogs about a storybook bible that was great for kids and families; naturally, i ordered it. well, today i received it in the mail and i am pretty pumped!

it's called...
the jesus storybook bible.
written by sally lloyd-jones
illustrated by jago
and it comes with audio of the entire book, narrated by david suchet

the book itself is pristine and sally lloyd-jones has taken some of the most well-known stories of the bible and condensed them into stories appropriate for 1st-3rd grade kids. her writing captures the stories, but also shows the heart of jesus. after all, the tag line of the book is, "every story whispers his name."

here is an excerpt from the first chapter...

"Now, some people think the Bible is a book of rules, telling you what you should and shouldn't do. The Bible certainly does have some rules in it. They show you how life works best. But the Bible isn't mainly about you and what you should be doing. It's about God and what he has done."

Right from the beginning I love her perspective on God and our relationship to Him.

The book is illustrated beautifully by an English artist named Jago. His illustrations are vivid and bring the stories we all know and love to life. he does a great job capturing them all.

another great feature is the three cd set of audio so kids can read along with their book. i listened to two stories today and was blown away by the interpretation. i loved it!

if you are interested in teaching these stories to your kids i would suggest ordering this resource from amazon!
