i had a great morning yesterday. god woke me up. seriously, i was laying in bed and woke up at 5.30 am - for no reason. i tossed and turned for almost an hour and finally said out loud, "fine!" so, i got up, wrapped my comforter around me and curled up with my bible on the couch. i was squinting thrugh my old glasses and the coffee in my hand let off curls of steam that clouded my vision. it had been a few days since i really, and informally talked to god - so we had a lot to catch up on...
i was reading in ephesians 1. when i came to this verse the clouded vision from my coffee turned into clouded vision from welled up eyes as i read...
It's in
Christ that we find out
who we are and
what we are living for.
Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up,
he had his eye on us,
had designs on us for
glorious living,
part of the
overall purpose
he is
working out in
everything and
everyone.
did you catch that? read it again.......seriously....
read it slower.
it is in CHRIST we find out who we are and what we're living for! in him! man, it seems like we're (i'm really talking about me) always looking for others to tell us who we are and what are purpose is. we're always looking to others to tell us our significance. we have our eyes open to our friends and family to tell us that we are accepted in this life.
you see, god had his eye on me and you before we were even thought of. the cool thing is...his design for glorious and abundant living is way better than anything we can ask or imagine.
so, today - just today - work on living for christ and not trying to live up to the expectations that others put on you, not because their expectations are bad, but because they aren't always the overall purpose god has for you.
